Garvey Maceo Secures Third Place with Confident Win Over Merl Grove

Garvey Maceo High claimed third place in the ISSA Schoolgirl Football 2025 season after a composed and clinical 3-1 victory over Merl Grove High in the playoff match.

Merl Grove started strongly, with Breanna Marr opening the scoring in the 11th minute to reward her team’s early dominance. Despite the early setback, Garvey Maceo remained calm and stuck to their game plan, gradually growing into the contest. Their persistence paid off in the 38th minute when Sajane Anderson netted the equalizer, bringing the teams level at 1-1 heading into the break.

The second half saw Garvey Maceo shift gears and take control of the match. Their increased tempo and attacking intent paid dividends in the 61st minute as Jully-Ann Howard found the back of the net, giving the Cubanz a deserved lead. Sara Needham then sealed the win in stoppage time with a well-taken goal, putting the result beyond doubt.

Garvey Maceo’s disciplined and determined performance ensured they finished the season on a high note with a 3-1 win and a spot on the podium.
